This was a good weekend! Grocery shopped, made chicken corn chowder, had a potluck fish fry next door on Saturday. On Sunday, slept in, had snacks, watched Super Bowl with hubby and his brother, had more snacks, had soup, had baked chicken, more TV, and began sewing on my Feb. quilt for the DQ swap. No pics yet, but something I've wanted to do for awhile -- courthouse steps log cabin blocks that result in floating lanterns. It is turning out well, I think. I'm using 1" strips, which will be fine for the DQ swap, but will be too wide for an AAQI quilt, so I'll have to use 3/4" strips for that one. Or, I'll try!
Also, have discovered a great fiction author, new to me: Penelope Lively. An Englishwoman. She won the Booker Prize in 1987 with Moon Tiger. I read that one last week. Then today I finished her latest one, just published last month: How it All Began. Either of them would make good fodder for a book club discussion. Neither of them is very long. And, she's been writing for lots of years, so there's lots of her books still to find. I love finding an author I've not heard of before who has a long list of books, so I can keep on reading.
Also, the weekend brought my January DQ from 978grey! It is a wonderful depiction of Massachusetts. If you want to see it, hop on over to the January DQ thread. I've just posted pics of it.
I'm off to the library to swap out some books!
