  4. PATTERN: POSTAGE STAMP QUILT Strip Piecing Method

    by , 08-04-2011 at 09:44 AM
If your fabric is in strips, why not strip piece them. Very similar with thousands of small pieces, and strip pieceing is really quick compared to individual squares.

JUST CUT STRIPS THE WIDTH YOU WANT -- SHE USED 1 1/2" BUT I WOULD USE 2 OR 2 1/2" -- BY EITHER 18" OR WOF, WHICHEVER YOU CHOOSE. 18" COULD GIVE YOU MORE VARIETY IN THE FINISHED QUILT. ANYWAY, MUCH, MUCH QUICKER THAN PIECING EACH AND EVERY SQUARE TOGETHER!

THIS IS VERY INTERESTING TO WATCH THIS WOMAN QUILTING FROM HER HOME IN WALTON, OR. SHE MAKES QUILT TOPS OR COMPLETE COMMISSIONED QUILTS. SHE USES CARDBOARD TEMPLATES AND SCISSORS!

Okay so I watched this video this afternoon, and was kinda FLOORED and how this woman quilted. Mind you this film was done back in 1979.

But it was interesting watching her cut out her fabric with SCISSORS with a homeade template, and then sew it with her Coats & Clark thread, and then ...
