Hello fellow quilters,

Let me say how much I am enjoying this board!!!

While this post has nothing to do with quilting, tonight, I found my life passing before my very eyes. I work 35 miles one way from my house so i am on the road a lot. Part of my job requires me to drive distances away from my home office. While I have experienced some close calls in the past, nothing could have prepared me for what happened tonight.

I'm minding my own business driving behind a tractor trailer when all of a sudden, I hear brakes locking up, skid marks lining the pavement, smoke billowing out, glass shattering, people screaming {me included} and people running and helping. The tractor trailer in front of me broadsided an SUV and her airbags deployed immediately. Front and side. I imagine they saved her from being crushed! To avoid colliding with the tractor trailer, I had to swerve out of the way and for a split second, i thought i was going to slam right into it. If I was watching a movie, this is the part where the car would burst into flames and my body would be burned beyond recognition. Thankfully, that part of the story did not come true tonight....but it could have.

As the tractor trailer collided, the sound of that crash brought people running to help. By the time my car came to a stop and I stopped screaming, I was shaking so much that I was useless to the victim. Thankfully, the trucker was not injured and at that point, i wasn't sure of the extent of her injuries. I was still trying to come to grips with the fact that, as badly as the situation appeared at that moment my car was careening out of control and about to slam into a huge truck cab, something happened and I was able to regain control and stop within a safe distance from the accident site.

But it makes me wonder.....why was I spared? Why did God allow me to experience this, yet keep me from hitting this truck? Is it because He loves me? Yes, He does. Of that, I am sure.....and please don't mistake my questions for ungratefulness because I am VERY grateful that He chose to spare me {because after all, I must quilt }, but it just makes me think! He must have work for me to do in this life so it was not my time to go. The way this truck was angled, I doubt very much that I would have survived this crash had God allowed it to happen. I'm so glad He chose to spare me tonight......but it sure did give me some food for thought.

My prayers go out to that woman and her family for a speedy recovery and to the truck driver who hit her. Their lives will never be the same again.......and neither will mine.

So grateful for His protection.

I do believe you were spared for your work here is not finished. Some beings complete their lessons early in life, some of us take longer. But I always believe there is a reason! I believe in Angels protecting us too. I really am not crazy. I always do ask what am I supposed to learn or do differently after a trial, or even when wonderful events occur. Thanks to GOD for helping you and Prayers for those hurt and hopefully now healing

Your story was very inspiring to me and I am sure many other readers on this blog. Thanks be to God you were spared. I think all of us should be asking God to use us for His Glory everyday we are alive. It will be so wonderful when we are all in heaven and we find out all the answers of the universe and how He used each one of us as a vessel to glorify Him.

Thanks debbiemarie.....I agree that we should be asking God everyday to be used by Him. I think often times He does that and we don't realize it or we don't realize it u til after the situation has happened.
