Hi, I have never done a tute before so bear with me on this. I have had several requests for how to make the hexagon block in my Avatar so here goes...
I used 1/4" seam allowance.
Any questions, please PM me - ENJOY!
I used the 5 1/2" hexagon template by Darlene Zimmerman
using 2 1/2" strip, lay under hexagon, right sides together
notice strip lays past each side of block, sew partial seam, stopping short on first
Someone posted to this thread that they would like a tutorial in English. I thought I would give it a try.
When I stacked them, I placed them on my cutting board and used the lines to place them at 1/2" intervals.
I tried to place the top fold of the stack as close to the center of the background as possible.
Thanks QuiltnNan for the tip.
Start with 6" squares. Need 8 each of 7 fabrics
Fold in 1/2 and press
This quilt block is a common block and has many tutorials out there telling you how to cut out the pieces carefully and piecing them together.
Well with my Cut Down Method it reduces the pattern to a 9 patch. My method uses 4 Boston Blocks / 4 HSTs cut out my way and the center is a Combo 4 patch cut out my way.
I used a 3 1/2" template and the finished size is 9 1/2". If you want to make a 12 1/2" quilt block use a 4 1/2" template.
