Has anyone done a hexagon quilt, ie, Grandma's flower garden? I love hand sewing so I decided that I would start a long-term project. I've taken scraps of fabric from all my previous quilting adventures and have started making 2" hexagons using the english paper piecing method. So far I've completed 340...only about 2,000 left to go. It's a project that I can throw a few into a ziplock back and take along with me whether I go. The making of the hexagons is the easy part. I suspect that it will be more difficult when I start sewing them together. My intent is to put them together randomly and I'm not a very random person so we'll see how it goes. I went online and found a website http://www.incompetech.com/graphpaper/ to make my hexagons. I print them on freezer paper cut to 8.5x11 and print them in my printer. This will be my first quilt that is hand sewn. I normally handquilt all my quilts but machine stitch the blocks together. So...here's to happy sewing and not too many finger pricks!
