LeslieFrost -- life in the woods of NW Wisconsin
March 15 -- And it's sunny and WARM -- this usually does not happen here!

This has been a funny old winter, that's for sure. I'm not sorry that we've leaped from snow (2 ft. of new stuff two weeks ago) right into mud season, but it is a little disconcerting.
The geese are back on the lake, there are lots of robins around, and I can take my daily walk outside again, without fear of slipping on ice/snow. Life is good. We can even open the windows a tad and let in some fresh air, although sometimes my DH goes around closing the ones I have just opened! He is so SKINNY that he gets cold easily.
On Thursday mornings I volunteer at the local high school, in the library (they call it the Media Center, but I call it the library). The school board made budget cuts last spring and eliminated at least one fulltime librarian position, so the high school library had no adult in it on Thursday mornings. Strictly speaking, that was supposed to mean that no students could be there either, but it doesn't look to me like that rule was enforced, but now that I am there from 9 to noon, the library can certainly be open. They'd like to have me more than one morning a week, but that's all I'm willing to commit to at this point.
The kids are all very polite and mostly quiet. I suspect the seniors will start to cut loose a little, as the end of the year comes. I'll have to get out my best stern look and practice up on my "Shush!"
I'm in the middle of a small quilt for my sister's birthday, but I'm not sure how to take the next step, so I'm going to look at basketball and read tonight instead. I've started my bookclub book for March -- Tolstoy and the Purple Chair. It is a memoir. It is well written, but I'm not feeling any empathy for the author yet. We'll see how it goes on.
Tomorrow I must prepare for Sat. On Sat. I'm going to an informal church conference. I'll be presenting two topics: Safeguarding God's Children and Robert's Rules of Order. (Two separate sessions, of course.) I'm passionate about both, so I don't have any trouble finding lots of material to present -- I have the other problem -- picking out just the most important things to present.
Hope everyone will have a good evening!
