My 2012 Quilt Journey

This year I felt a desire to document my quilt journey. I am embarking on two postage stamp quilt adventures and perhaps I felt that if I do so (document), I would be sure to complete them in some form. Also, I have collected a few finished quilt tops waiting to be turned into quilts for awaiting family and friends. I am not one that likes to have a lot of unfinished projects lying around so something had to be done. Plus I have a couple of quilt orders that need to be finished and I have had friends bring me back fabrics from their overseas travels that I want to turn into quilts. And I have issued a challenge to myself to make and complete a quilt each month. Phew!! So far this year, I have completed two quilt tops: the New Years Day Mystery Quilt by Merry Mayhem and a Super Bowl Sunday quilt project, both are needing to be sandwiched and quilted this month to keep me on track. I also have a mountain of completed blocks from block swaps that are waiting to be quilts one day. Sew many projects and sew little time.So off I go with this blog and my written journal of my 2012 quilt journey. My two postage stamp quilts will take so many 1.5" squares of fabric (approx. 17,000 - 20,000 for both), that I want to note where the fabrics are coming from. One of the postage stamp quilts I am making is Bonnie Hunter's Perkiomen Daydreams which requires 10,000 1.5" squares of fabric. The other I decided since I was having to cut so many squares that I would make it bed size instead of lap size. I am excited about my brave new journey and look forward to what I will create this year.
