Wow 14 blocks made and 386 more to go. i am setting a goal of making 10 blocks per week for this quilt to at least get the quilt top done this year. this quilt pattern is a 100 x 100 sized quilt so that is 10,000 1.5" fabric squares needed. wow! i am not overwhelmed by any of this yet. i am just taking it one fabric square at a time.
i am using both strip sets and individual squares to make up these blocks. i have so many more fabrics to incorporate into these quilt blocks that i have yet to include so it will take on a more familiarness once i do this. i have bascially been using fabric squares received from holice (thanks sew much) and reds, yellows and lights that i recently purchased.
i am continously perusing the remnants bins at my lqs and hancock fabrics or purchasing fabric remnants from thousands of bolts. i dont live close enough to joann's so i dont go there on fishing expeditions for remnants.
there are very few of my ethnic fabrics or batiks in the blocks i have completed so far. i will add them soon enough. i know i need more purples period as i truly love this color and i had very few in my stash. only just the ones to make my niece her purple love quilt so there will be more fabric shopping in my future.
also as i was looking at the fabric squares from holice, which were leftovers from kits for a colorwash quilt, i looked up the colorwash quilts and now i think i will add that to my list of quilts to do. i definately want to try my hand at it.
