I just returned home from quilt club this morning - we had a theme "something always on the table for Thanksgiving" and were to bring an item for show and tell; I brought grandma's hardanger table topper that sits on a solid tablecloth that way design is easier to see - I also brought along my gravy ladle as it is the one thing that always makes it to the thanksgiving table. Many girls brougt knick knacks that they set out - we don't do a lot of that any more.
Next month are theme is curves and scallops - and to bring our christmas stocking for show and tell. It reminded me of the stocking ornament that hangs on our tree that was part of a fundraiser of sorts from NY after the 9-11 attacks. My aunt Roxanne sent it to us and it has it's own place on the tree. Maybe there will be something of similar nature after the Sandy storm rolled through the east coast and did so much damage.
Wondering what I personally can do to help - money is the favorite but if there is no electricity or goods what good will it do? Sitting on the fence right now - waiting for better organization so I know that what I will contribute gets to the proper people and not lost in admin fees.
Looking forward to holiday season - thanksgiving will soon be upon us and would like to ask the good Lord above to bless us all and to keep us close to his heart.
