I have been asked to make a wall hanging from horse show ribbons. Has anyone made one? I could use some tips such as; should I use the flip and sew method to make fabric blocks? Should I use batting or not? Or should I place the ribbons face up on a fabric square and overlapping the edges and sew in place (might be less puckering this way). Do I have to watch the temp of the iron because it might pucker the ribbon and melt the lettering? Ribbons have not arrived, yet so just thinking in advance. There will be extra ribbons to play with.

There was one posted here on the board, last year. I will see if I can find the link.

what a great idea! I would be careful with temp cuz the ribbons might scorch. Also, to preserve as much of the ribbon as possible, I'd probably position the ribbons to fabric or to each other w/o a seam. that is, I'd either place ribbons on top of fabric & applique down or side by side & use a feather or multi-step zig-zag to hold together. good luck. hope you post the finished quilt. would love to see it

I wouldn't iron the ribbons as they could melt. Some of mine were wrinkled and that's what happened. I would applique them.
