Our long awaited new great granddaughter has been born about a half hour ago! Healthy and beautiful! She is 6 lb 4 ozs and 19 in long. She joins Alisha almost 6 and Jayden 3.
I don't have a picture yet but will post one when I do. Unfortunately even tho the hosp is only 10 mins from me I won't be able to go see her and hold her as I had planned. I am so bummed! I have a killer of a cold and can't take that around the baby and Nicole. They live close by so I can go see her anytime I want to as soon as I am well again. Just a bit disappointing not to be able to see her today. Oh well!
Now I am just anxiously waiting for a picture. My Cody is a papa now of one of his own blood. He married Nicole and became an instant dad. Now they have one that is theirs. He loves the other two deeply and he was with her when Nicole gave birth to Jayden. So the kids don't really know any other daddy but Cody. I am so proud of him! He also joined our family by marriage but he is every inch my grandson!! He is our oldest grandchild and he has grown up to be a remarkable man.
He almost died in a car accident 3 yrs ago. He was driving a heavy duty work truck when an elderly couple were driving on the wrong side of a divided highway and they collided head on at 65 miles an hour at the top of a hill. The couple were killed instantly.
Cody broke his jaw in 3 places almost all his facial bones were broken he broke his pelvis and several bones in his legs. It nicked his spleen and his liver. They had to do a tracheotomy because his face was so broken he couldn't breathe. It took him almost a year to recover.
It was a miracle he even survived. If they hadn't been in a work truck both boys would have been dead. As it was the guy riding with him had a cracked spine but he didn't require surgery. They put him in a chest brace that resembled a turtle shell and he recovered at home. Cody took the brunt of it as the steering wheel was jammed into him and he was hit from behind by the long pipes they were carrying in the bed of the truck. They came through the little window and hit the head rest full force shoving the head rest into Cody. Essentially he got hit from front and back at the same time.
He will always have trouble getting through any metal detector because he has metal plates in his face and pins in his legs. But we are so glad he has recovered as much as he has. It took him almost 6 mos of being on crutches before he could walk again.
So to see his little family doing so well is such a blessing! I am so proud of him and hope the blessings continue for him and Nicole and the kids.
