  1. Getting Back To It!

    by , 04-26-2014 at 08:36 AM
I am still in the process of moving but there is finally a light at the end of the tunnel! I went from a 2800 sq ft house to a 1600 sq ft. Downsizing is not fun at all but being realistic. Most of our kids are college bound next year. We won't need that much room anymore and will be less to maintain as we age. When looking for a new home, I kept in mind the need for room for my Z44 frame if it was to ever be expanded to Cali King size. I have also been thinking of storage issues. Maybe a cube ...

  2. Quilt label pen?

    by , 07-03-2013 at 01:51 PM
Three years and the never ending King size Cathedral Window Quilt is still in progress. I have been thinking as I go. Question.... I have never done a label so was wondering what to use? Something that would be permanent and not run. I am wanting to write on the fabric itself instead of attaching a separate label. I see all of these that can be printed on your printer but wouldn't the ink run and/or wash out? I am thinking my logo plus pertinent info. Any advice would be tremendously appreciated! ...

  3. Walking Foot

    by , 02-02-2013 at 07:48 AM
I ordered a walking foot for my Singer Simple® yesterday. My model # wasn't listed but one of the reviews stated she uses it on hers. I have so much to learn about sewing/quilting on a machine. I love to create and if it makes it faster then..... All I can do is read, watch videos and try. I see all these beautiful quilts and patterns in aww. So many techniques, ruler/cutting methods... it tends to be a bit overwhelming. With that said, I will find one that jumps out at me and then research. ...

  4. Quilting By Day, Crochet By Night

    by , 01-31-2013 at 05:59 AM
As i know my CW is so time consuming, my thought is I would never get anything else done. I am almost half through a sweater I have been working on. To ensure progress on both, I have decided on the qbd and cbn theory. I can't go wrong that way, lol. This, of course, is when time permits.

A friend of mine is also working on a CW and we keep up with each other to keep the motivation going. Do you ever begin a big project all enthusiastic and once you are in the middle of it, ...

  5. Determined To Finish!

    by , 01-20-2013 at 05:03 PM
I have recently pulled my Cathedral Window back out. Life happens and other projects took over my time. My goal is to finish this before I allow myself to start another project. Having a "Fold/Iron" marathon until all needed to finish is complete, then I will go from there. With this concept, I am hoping it will feel like I am moving faster, lol. Is there anyone else working on a CW at the moment?

I have only tacked my corners of the windows and did not go all the way through. With that said, now I am questioning durability. (visualizing something getting caught in the "pockets" and pulling them loose). As much as it makes me cringe

I am not ready to start this project as of yet, but wanted to do some more research on the "how to's". I have a huge fear that this idea is completely out there on

  8. Video Moves For Applique!

    by , 02-21-2012 at 06:39 AM
May seem small to others, but when it takes 15 mins to load a 1 min video, it gets very frustrating after a while! Being I am a visual learner, I use YouTube for my "how to's." We got faster internet installed yesterday, so now it just PLAYS when I click… YEAH!

With this being said, I have been looking at how to hand appliqué. I see various techniques so I am trying to determine which will work best for me. I see some use freezer paper, some use fusible web, some use ...

  9. Hunter's Star Possibility

    by , 02-08-2012 at 04:14 PM
Thinking of doing the Hunter's Star using camos and hunter's orange. I have been researching patterns, etc. I am knew to Quilt Pro 5 so I have a lot to learn, but haven't seen that block in there as of yet. I may have to figure a way to draw it or what have you in the program. Are there any other patterns that might be recommended for my color scheme? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Also, if any has any pics of camo quilts, I would love to see, as well.

  10. Bad Machine.. Bad

    by , 02-07-2012 at 06:46 PM
Well, as most know the CW is what my concentration has been on. A friend of mine worked on my machine for me over the weekend and all was well for a couple of days. I am back to the same disagreement with it so put it back up. I don't know when I'm going to realize that I am not meant to operate machinery, lol. I did manage to make it through putting 16 (4.5" squares) together before it got mad at me again. Therefore, back to all by hand once again. I am ok with this, I just think I ...
