My method is easy, but don't know what it's called. Take 2 squares (Iusually use 5"), pin rigt sides together. Sew a 1/4 inch seam on all 4 sides. Make 2 cuts on the diag like a big "X". Open and press. That's it. Found this on you tube and have used with great success on scap quilts. You can also make star blocks like this, but have to cut square blocks for corners separately.
