My Quilt at the guild show, September 2013 It's called Rainbow connection as it is made of bits of projects i've made or pieces of fabric i've been gifted. Pattern is a variation of Now and Later that was in APQ last fall.

I am wondering how many of you create what you love instead of creating what is popular at the moment? I recently joined this Quilting Board website, and I see many quilts that are clearly the creation of the quilter, instead of what the market currently has to offer. Its refreshing to see so many sewers out there creating quilts that reflect their own style and fabric choices, instead of quilts that are found in magazine and website advertisements.

Yesterday morning as I was eating my breakfast I did my usual routine of checking both my Facebook and email accounts. I noticed I had alot more new emails than normal and some of them were marked "URGENT!!!". As it turns out, there was an urgent call to arms in my modern quilt guild for help to complete a special project with a fairly short deadline.
Now, I recently have found myself rather stagnant in the quilting department. Part of this is due to the fact that my

I am very excited to close my quilt shop - hopefully next month. I chose a poor location in an area with less than optimal advertising opportunities. To NOT have to pay rent and utilities will be a dream come true! I have sat in this shop for over a year and a half with rarely a quilter coming through the door and the local guild snubbing me. I won't have a going out of business sale. I am going to take my act on the road and do shows and hopefully get my website up and functional.
Well, I have failed my first resolution of the year. My 3 year old hand applique project is still sitting untouched beside my chair. I did search for a thimble - does that count? My other resolution is to eat healthly but that doesn't count as it is an annual promise. I work full time for Pellon so I am justified in the delay.
I am preparing for the Road2California show in Ontario, CA beginning Jan. 19th. A lot goes into the preparation of being a vendor at large shows. You shop
Everyone knows what a UFO is. How many do you have? I have plenty. Three years ago I started working on a marketing team. We developed a new line for independent shops and long armers.
My sewing time was halted. I am not complaining as I do love marketing and I do love the products. I have had the opportunity to meet folks who were not in my cirlcle of instructors and authors. I had been teaching traditional quiltmaking for many years prior to joining the company.
