My DD just texted me this (re: my DGD) " She keeps telling me she wants to name the new puppy 'fabric'." My reply, "Let her." Do you think she has been hanging with her Granna too much?

This post made me reminisce about the time I took DGD into a shop in East Rochester, NY while I was visiting DD. She was still pre school, her brothers were at school and DD and DSIL were at work. We were having a wonderful one on one day. (She's 16 now) I told her that she could pick out her very favorite fabric and I would make her a pair of shorts. After scrutinizing all the wonderful fabric she approached the shelf full of '30s repros, extended her arms to the side as far as she could, and said, "I like these!" I heard some laughter from behind me and saw the store clerks and several customers watching and smiling their grandmother smiles. I told them that I was having a special day of spoiling my DGD. I still can't think of a better way to spend a day. However, she is not looking for a pair of shorts; she's in the market for a prom dress according to DD and they will be visiting me next week. Haven't seen them in almost a year.

The moral of the story is spoil away. That's what grandmother's are for.

This cracked me up. My DD just rolls her eyes whenever I start talking quilts. Or she gets that empty stare look. I love it when I can get DGD talking quilts. BTW, she will be 3 on the 24th. She's getting the puppy for her birthday. I think she should name it whatever she wants. But I certainly can give her some ideas. Keep 'em comin'.
