Am taking my daughter (53 years old) on a road trip to Washington DC. Am leaving Arkansas on 9/11, driving though Nashville TN, Ashville and Winston-Salem NC, and Williamsburg VA on the way.

I have warned her I will stop at every quilt shop I can find. Have also told her I will not take her with me unless she tags along to Harrisonburg VA to the Quilt Museum before returning home on 9/28.

I refuse to hear "it's out of the way" or '"why do we have to stop here." I really don't know how I'm going to get by without my daily 'quilt fix' of reading this board and I'm afraid I might go nuts since I won't be able to quilt for 3 weeks. I'm addicted to the inspiration, humor, and help I get from reading all of your comments. Please tell me about your favorite haunts for quilting finds along the way. Maybe you can all help me maintain my sanity. :)

Hi and welcome to this board from Iowa. It sounds like you have planned a lovely trip and you can share your adventures with us when you return. Keep a travel diary to help in remembering all the fun things you want us to know (smile). Think of all the lovely quilts you will make with the incredible fabric you are going to find. That should keep you positively going for at least three weeks (laughter). Have a safe journey and share your adventures.

Take handwork. I have a GFG I carry - someday I may finish it. :)
