My sister and I went to the Assumption Abbey outside Ava MO - we THOUGHT it was closer--but no! We had a lovely time - is on 3400 acres, has only 4 elderly Trappist Monks, and ONE Nun! Our individual rooms were quite comfortable and thank GOD we DID have an air conditioner there....ONLY there. There must have been 8 of us. They make the MOST DELICIOUS fruitcakes I have EVER tasted (they mail them all over the world!)
Attached are some pics - mostly of this beautiful quilt on my bed. I kept bragging about how PERFECT it was, for hand stitching AND machine machine stitching...I will let you see---

It was a lovely experience. Unfortunately, they are suggesting that the Abbey will have to be sold because there are no younger Monks that are coming in. It will be a shame. I am planning on going back for a few days in October just before there is no more....

Oh! I forgot to mention - after drueling (sp) over that pattern and noticing it was both hand and machine made, I turned it over and..$#@! it was made in China.........
