I am making a simple quilted tote, and wondering if anyone knows how I could add a separation/divider on the inside? I am stumped trying to figure it out.

    Thanks!

I'd like to learn how to do this, too.

Here is a pattern that shows how to make a divider. It is an Amy Butler design called the Blossom Handbag/shoulder bag. Sew , Mama Sew has a free PDF download. Maybe you can alter it to work on yours. Hope this helps. Goodluck  http://sewmamasew.com/blog2/2010/09/...gshoulder-bag/
The download here: (Pics. on page 4 of download show dividers.)

Oh my, what an adorable bag!! I can see how I can easily get sidetracked from finding how to do the dividers. Thanks so much for the link. I hope I can incorporate this tute in a simple tote.

It is going to depend greatly on the bag you are making. Can you give a little more detail. I do a lot without a pattern and rarely do exactly as the pattern says. Dividers can be sewn into the seams or added to the sides. They can have buttons, zippers, velcro, etc. I absolutely love to create my own style and would love to help you with this.

Thank you SEW much! I'm looking to sew a simple tote with two separate compartments to divide into two sections (doesn't need a zipper or anything). Doesn't have to be fancy. I'd also like to put in three small pockets on the inside. I'm more of a 'fudger' when it comes to patterns, too, and like to figure things out. I just can't wrap my mind around this one. :)

Im thinking make a divider the size of the bag, plus seam allowance all around. Use batting and interfacing to stiffen to your liking. Sew the three layers together at one seam that will be the top. Turn, press and topstitch, if want. Quilt pc to your liking. I would sew this into the side and bottom seams so It divides the bag in half. If you want a boxed bottom, youd have to play with the placement so the sides arent crunched. I hope this helps, its hard to put in words what I see in my head. Lol

Thanks, Buslady! I'll certainly give it a try. :)
