Thread: All about My Alice

I did rescue of Baby birds and baby animals, They were sent to me when found hurt by Vets , fish and game and though word of mouth. This is one that I raised and had for 15 years.
Alice had her lower back and legs crushed while being carried by her mother, The mother was killed by a car and Alice was still hurt but alive. When I took her to the Vet, I was told that She there was nothing that could be done for her and he wanted me to put her down. I refused and took her home and started medicateing her. I made a brace and keep to keep her non moble for 6 weeks. Had to change the brace size every two weeks. She grew so fast. She was kept in a plastic box on a heating pad. but kept uncovering herself , so I cut a hole if fabric and made a poncho , tieing it around the waist to keep it on her. This is how it all started for her learning to wear clothing.
Whele still in het plastic bed and in her brace and fully dressed I took her to see the Vet. It Saurprised him to see her alive. He wanted me to give the braces to him when she was out of them.
By the time the brace was taken off She was a healthy little girl wearing clothes with no problem at all. Over the years She was taken to senior Homes and Children wards to visit, and brought smiles on all faces that she came in contact with. I was lucky to have Alice for a short 15 years, and to this day I must admit that I still think of think of her from time to time. I am sending you a group of pictures to share with you what others were lucky to see in person. She thought she was human. LOL

OH MY GOSH! Is she ever cute! She looks like a baby sucking her thumb in one of the pictures! You are a GREAT guy!
Is she a red squirrel? She looks red in one picture, maybe its the light. I would sure smile if I saw her!
