Or are they just making slacks that much longer than they used to? Had to invest in a number of pairs of new slacks for work and have to hem every one of the blasted things! I am about 5'7" and never used to have to hem my slacks and now I have to shorten them anywhere from 1 to 3 inches. AARGH. Sorry, just had to vent, but I hate hemming pants

Oh me too, hate to hem!! I must have hemmed thousands of pants over the years with 3 sons and a husband and me. Not so much anymore :)

For 5 yrs I've been buying the same pair of jeans from the same store. Never even had to try them on.......the last pair were 5" too long!! I did NOT shrink that much!!!!! I won't hem them!!! I roll them up like Fonzy from the 50s...LOL

Maybe they are longer because the style is to wear slacks with higher heels or boots. I always have to hem, because I'm 5' 3"
on a good day.

I thought that pants were getting longer, too. But then I went to my regular doctor for a check-up and the nurse asked me how tall I was. I told her 5'5", just as I always do. She measured me and I was only 5'3". I didn't believe her, and she did it again and showed me where my head hit.

Where did those extra two inches go? No wonder I'm 'fluffy' - I'm same weight but getting shorter!

I think it's because they're making them long enough to wear with heels and cover the whole shoe almost to the ground.

Even nurses uniforms drag the floor. I was at a nursing home a week or so ago and Ioffered to sew them for a gal. They were split up the outside seam and dragging, badly, maybe 4 or 5 inches. She said, "OH NO, that's the style" I shut up, but I really have seen some platform shoes lately. are they really coming back??? I remember the aching feet and legs and now they ache again, but I don't wear those big boxy things, BUT I use to!
I know I'm shrinking, I call it the gravity pull, soon all of it will be down around my knees!

I'm only 5'3" and I always have to hem my pants. Trouble is I land up hemming pants for friends and family. It cost $12.oo to hem pants at the cleaners.
