Wow. My mom watched a guy roll a big cart of food out of the grocery store once too, she saidhe just strolled out like nothing, and they caught him. This is why stuff costs us honest people so much. If he needed a machine, he couldve got one off Freecycle. SAD!

Carrieanne is so right. I have had several relatives work in retail and they've told me horror stories and yes, it makes the rest of us pay more :(

I witnessed a guy shoplifting one time. I'm not above notifying clerks/management when I suspect someone. It makes me so mad to work hard for my money and have others think nothing of stealing it!

I worked in retail for years and the past few years it was so bad we had people monitoring the cameras every day/night. And, let me assure you, it's everyone, everywhere - all sizes and ages. It increases the amount we pay for everything. People are so brazen, just like the man - pick it up and run! We had people try to get out with carts of clothing all the time. Sometimes they steal store shopping bags and take clothes into the fitting rooms, stuff the bags full and think no one will notice. And what's even more sad, people are stealing from our thrift stores here where volunteers are working to help our schools, Habitat, church youth programs. Sorry, it really makes me angry.

Yrs ago I worked w/a woman who used to work for Montgomery Ward. She said one night a man started carrying a canoe out of the sports dept. One of the mgrs asked him if he needed help to which the man said yes. It was discovered later that he had stolen it! I guess the key is to act like you are not doing anything wrong & no one will question you.

I can't stand a thief! I work in retail, and I deal with this everyday. I have so many theft stories that I could write a book. People just don't care how it affects everyone else as long as they get the benefits!!!
