Default any ideas? what am I?

My father has a leather bag that his father carried, but we have no idea what it is, we know that it is old , so maybe someone on here can tell me what it is? this is what it looks like,
It has 1917 Rockisland arsenal t.c.o. on the front of the bag
he says that it is real thick leather about 4 inches wide has a wide strap,
in front it gets narrow and is 4 to 5 inches tall.......
thank you for your time

It looks like an antique US Calvary bag they kept their ammo and supplies in. Lucky lady. Love it!
