I am not sure if this is the correct place to post this. But I wanted to share a website that I found last year that allows you to connect with deployed soldiers. I know many of us know soldiers in Iraq or Afghanistan and may send them care packages, but there are many who don't get much.

Anyway, some units use this website http://anysoldier.com/ to list some of their needs/wants and updates and if you find it in your heart and means to send a care package during this giving season, I am sure it'll go a long way for these brave souls. Actually many just ask for letters, hand-drawn pictures and anything to make them feel close to home. It'll be a great project to get your kids involved in too.

Me too! I have always wanted to support our troops but wasn't sure of the best way to do so. Even if I can just write a letter, it seems it will be appreciated. I just finished reading all about this organization and am impressed.

several years ago a friend of mine was stationed with a marine unit in fallujhah. i started by sending cookies. then, to pad the cookies i started including some small stuffed animals. i also threw in things like decks of cards and [supposed to be for little] kids' toys from the dollar stores. (including the plastic glasses with noses attached ... for covert ops, of course. :lol: )

they were a huge hit - with the marines. my friend told me they were dickering and trading with each other in hopes of ending up with the ones they liked best.

just goes to prove that nobody is too big, too bad, too tough, or too old for a stuffie to call their very own. :lol:
