Default Anyone have the No Call number for land phones?

Our subscription time must have run out because we have been getting so many calls lately. I think when we signed up for NO CALLS is was for 5 years and our time must have expired. Telemarketing doesn't try to 'sell' anymore they try to get you to answer a survey or donate to something you've never heard of. Been receiving many calls for police organizations, we donate to our local PBA and charity donations are ones we choose.

Wish there was a number to call to stop snail mail for charities, etc. Don't you just love it after you have sent them a donation and you receive a Thank You back with a request for another donation. I tried writing back to them to take my name off their mailing list but the only thing that accomplished was that I wasted a postage stamp becauce they would add my address once again to their mailing list and I received triple requests. I keep my paper recyle box near my chair in the kitchen and all those requests go right in the bin unopened. Once in awhile I'll open one as their long white envelopes make great shopping lists and hold my coupons nicely.

We got an answering machine to finally stop the robo-calls. I hate having to get up from my machine for a stupid call. Everyone that knows us knows to ask us to pick up. Are we screening our calls? You betcha! I never had much luck with the no call list.

There is no expiration date. Once you sign up for DO NOT CALL you should be on it for life. Unfortunately charities and surveys are exempt, it sounds like that is what you are getting. As soon as you know you are not interested, say No Thanks and hang up. No need for further conversation.

Here is the website to get on the DNC registry

https://www.donotcall.gov/

Here is a link to the Direct Marketing Association (mail) to hopefully get you OFF some mailing lists.

When I get these calls (assuming I get a "live" person), I always ask them to remove our number from their calling list. Tele-marketers and charities are required to do this if you ask them, and they are allowed only one "mistake" after you ask. If you document the calls after you request to be taken off their list and they exceed that, apparently it's pretty easy to file a claim with the government; the caller gets fined and you get the money (I think over $100).

I've had a couple of charities that couldn't get it right (I suspect volunteer callers) and had to ask several times, but they all eventually have stopped calling. There's no need to be nasty on the phone, either. I am very polite when I ask. Most companies have trained their callers to respond appropriately.

It's well worth taking the time to answer the phone and make this request. The phone rings so much less frequently now!!!

When I get the request for donations, if they have a self address envelope with prepaid postage, I return the request with a note to remove my name, they have to pay at the postoffice to get this letter. On the ones with out pre-paid postage, I have been know to put not enough postage on and they have to pay the remainder on reciept,as I do not add a return address. I don't hear from them again.

That is to funny. My Uncle in NJ just sent me the number in the mail because he said he was getting to many calls. Now they are calling his cell phone. He is 80 +and is having a hard time dealing with the phone .So he wanted to make sure I was not bothered here.He gave me the same number that Aronel gave you. I would just call it to make sure they dont have you.

I don't bother with anything. As soon as you sign up for something, your name goes all over the place. We screen our calls and that is the best way. They stop calling after they don't get a pick up after several calls.

We have been on the list for years. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. When I do pick up and get a live person, as soon as I say, "You know you are not supposed to...", they hang up. The worst is the ones that hit our fax machine! What a waste (and expense) of paper! I've now been getting calls from a "disease" research wanting money. They call late at night and early in the morning! Very frustrating. We do not pick up any calls that we don't know but they keep calling.
If you are on the list and still get calls, report them to your State Attorney General's office.
