Just thought I'd see if anyone on the board has had any experience with a Synovial Cyst on the spine. I'm an RN but have no experience in this area. Would like to know what anyone chose for treatment and what their experience was like and if it was successful. For anyone that is curious this is a benign cyst that is causes (in my case) pretty severe sciatic pain. Initial treatment will be steroid injections.

Sorry can't help you. But good luck with treatments. DH received steroid injection for bulging disc pain caising leg numbness. It did help him some what. Tokk a few weeks for med to kick in.

No experience with this, but I had a pilonidal cyst on my tailbone that had to be cut out after 7 years of pain. I hope you have resolution with steroid injections quickly!!

I had several steroid injections in the back for back pain later I learned they were a contributing factor to my getting cataracts at only 54 I will never do that again no matter how bad the back pain is altho it doesn't hurt to have it done you are in and out in a couple hours I have now been told the injections can lead to deterioration of the disc in the spine so its like your damned if you do or damned if you don't

Thank you for you message. Any replies that I get with information of other's experience are so useful to me in making an informed decision on choosing a treatment course. I'm new to the board, but have read enough to know that I could count on help from some members with this issue. Thanks again!

I don't know about the cyst - but I do have chronic pain from sciatica - I have done all the injections with the pain center - they really didn't help me (some people swear by them) - did PT- pain meds - finally thing that worked best for me was cortisone injections in Primary MDs office right into the source in my lower back- I wish you luck and keep at it you will find relief.

Thank-you. I will keep after it, because living with this is really not an option I want to consider!
