Anyone have an APX security system. Is it a scam? We are just not sure what is going on and feel skittish about this. Anyone with information please let me know your thoughts.
Thanks so much :-D

Why are you feeling skiddish?? No alarm here, we are guarded by large dogs, lol! I did hear something about some of the security companies scams....maybe on Clark Howard!

If you google APX alarm complaints, you'll find plenty of them.

That's just what I did and that's why I asked this question. Hmmm. I just don't feel right about this. We sure don't need any extra costs at this point. Gee!

Don't know why, but I've felt like the sign for the security system that they put in your yard just advertises that you have something you want to protect...kwim...

It's not a scam, per se; they offer a legitimate service, and you do get the service you pay for. They just have really pushy sales tactics, and a ridiculously long contract that they won't let you out of (60 months - seriously!). We had it at our last house, and the actual service was fine.

I think that varies by area - where I last lived, almost everyone had one, and the signs did in fact act as deterrent (though not by any means an absolute one).

Get a guard dog. You can pet it and it will run faster than a crook! Cheaper, too!

We have 3 dogs who guard the area. And as back up we have Kola the viscous sleeping watch cat.

Where was it that heard many small dogs are better at guarding a house than one large dog?? It's like a proverb or something... one grain of sand won't stop a train but a desert full will. ?? Wish I had a better memory! :-)
