I too am dealing with health issues. This time it is my aging parents. My dad spent 3 days in the hospital and is now in rehab. He has to stay there until he can walk again. My parents live 100 miles south of us with Los Angeles in the middle. Makes for a long commute. Took us 3 1/2 hours on Friday to make the drive. He has a lot of dementia, is down to 121 lbs (I'd love to give him 30 of mine) Keeps getting UTI's cause he does not want to drink. He's not eating a whole lot either. Was dehydrated, very weak, anemic, low protein in the blood and even more confused than normal. I'm not sure they are doing a very good job at rehab making him drink. The reason he's there is to get his strength back and that won't happen if he does not eat and drink.
I pieced together 3 tops last week. Did another one on Thursday. Hope to start another 3 today. Right now I have 6 tops that will get sandwiched Friday night at our monthly UFO at church. Maybe I will have 9?? My machine is still in the shop so I won't start quilting them until it's back. Been over 2 months!!!!!
Weight is up 1, down 2, up 1, even etc. So, not doing so great. Yesterday was a real emotional day. Cried half the day. I did not overeat with that emotion, so that was good. My eyes are pretty sensitive today. I wear contacts and If I cry much they get blurry very quickly and I have to keep pulling them out and cleaning them.
My beautiful grand daughter should be here any minute. We get to play with her for a little bit but it will be her nap time really soon. So most of the time we have her, she will be sleeping. Still, she is such a delight. just turned 19 months.

We had a lady's get together Sat. night at our church and did scrapbooking. Of course we had snacks and I gave in and ate some. Sun. our church had a cookout at the park and I again ate. This morning my eyes were so swollen from all the sodium from all the stuff I ate. I'm back on my plan and drinking water and peeing. haha None of you have to worry about me winning the fabric this month.

Okay, I've been having a bad time as well. Picked up some weight, but know why. I was eating my full portion again - not the smaller portion I've been giving myself. Somehow I mentally decided I could handle it - and couldn't. I'm back in control (I think) and will give myself smaller portions. So that leads us to our --
Taboo Tuesday -- Instead of having all the plates and bowls on the table and serving from there (commonly called family style), take your plate to the stove and put your portion on the plate - and that's all you eat - that one plate serving. Serving from the table when everyone is talking and carrying on tends to put more on your plate than is necessary. Serving from the stove gives you the necessary portions without the excess because you're thinking about that serving, not talking while passing a bowl.

Saw my new doctor today as my other doctor is having some issues with writing too many RX's and the DEA is cracking down on the narcotics family practice docs are writing without having proper records. The new doc today told me they are now required to do drug test every few months for patients who are on narcotics. I think they are finding that people who see multiple doctors are writing different forms of narcotics for them and not considering the patient safety.

I needed to see a new doctor because the insulin I was on is not on the preferred list for a lower co-pay on my insurance plan, so needed to switch insulin to one that is on the plan. GOod thing is my weight this month so far is down 5 lbs. I am happing to finally see it droppin again. For a while I was maintaining the same weight.

I am also eating less at each meal, I have cut back so much that a full portion when I do go out to eat, I can only eat half. Saturday night date, we went to chili's, and I go the light choice salmon, I could only eat half of what was there so that is dinner tonight.

We are having a good relaxing week here in Myrtle Beach. Lots of sitting around just talking etc. We spent some time at the beach today until storms came in. We did a little bit of shopping. Eating has been ok. We have tons of fresh veggies. I made clean out the leftovers stew for dinner. Leftover chicken, with all kinds of veggies from the refrig. I put in a little bit of rice in it. It was tasty. We are drinking a lot of wine though. I am sure I am not down this week, but hopefully not up. We also have been on some long walks too. I am supposed to teach several people how to make a professional tote. Not sure we will do it. I did get all of the ducky blocks made for a baby quilt I need quickly. My niece is adopting a baby. I can't do any more on it here as I don't have the things here. The rest will be fast. I am also trying to catch up on my quilt guild mystery quilt. I am on step 2 and should be finishing step 5.
I hope all of the health issues clear up. Praying for everyone.
Pat

A quick check in before I am on the road again. I agreed to remove all support except morphine for comfort and saline to keep the veins from collapsing from my ex on Sunday. It was expected that his passing would be in a matter of hours - yesterday he was sitting up in bed and communicating. I know this is what he wants and needs, but he's not making it easy.

My weight is up and down, but that's not surprising. I have some writing to do for the church and dogs to walk, then off I go again. Traffic shouldn't be too bad today. The hospital is in a tourist area so weekends are more difficult, but certainly not like Los Angeles - once in that traffic was enough.

Take care, everyone. Eat healthy.

meanmom...I am going to Myrtle Beach in three weeks with my daughter and son-in-law. His family has a condo there that they stay at several times a year and asked me to go with them this time. I have never been there. Can you recommend any fabric shops I should be sure to visit while there? I would love to find some fabrics that is not available or common in Michigan. I did a google search for shops and found some but don't know which ones are in a must visit category. Thanks

I am sending a prayer for everyone that is in need for either uplifting or support.

Garage didn't get done. I sprained my knee. Of course it is the bad knee that I sprained. Weight loss stalled. No loss or gain. Guess that is a good thing. With the bad knee exercise is out. I ordered the new Ab Twister. We will see if this does any good for the Belly. At least it is a no impact exercise for the knee.
