He is my hero. I remember when I read that he passed away - I was walking across my college campus and saw a newspaper box with the news on it. I stood there and cried my eyes out. Miss you so much, Dr. S!!!

I got an "A" in a college course because I could explain Environmentalism using his book "The Lorax" "I speak for the trees!"

I used to use the "Sneetches" story when teaching my students about discrimination, "They have stars on thars!" or "Horton Hatches and Egg" on responsibility and keeping your word. "I said what I mean and I mean what I said. An Elephant is faithful 100%"

One of my favorites is a little known story that shows the stupidity of war, "The Butter Battle" "Who's going to drop it? Will you...? Or Will he..?"Be patient," said Grandpa. "We'll see. We will see....

I wonder if he was a secret quilter? That describes many of our sewing rooms. I love his books!

Butter Battle Book was a wonderful book! He was actually an artist as well as an author/illustrator. He did some very interesting pieces of art. I have always wanted to own one, but have never had the money...
