My daughter just found out her baby's formula was recalled. Anyone who is using powdered formula needs to find out if what they are using is in the recall. I don't have the info for you but thought you might need a heads up.

My poor DGD has been drinking ground up bugs for a few weeks

I heard about it on the radio, I didn't catch the brand name; apparently it has beetles and their larva in it. UGH!

I googled and it is Similac Brand.

Beetles were found in the production area of one manufacturing facility. It's possible that bug parts or larvae could be in the formula which would give the babies upset stomachs and they may refuse to eat.

It is only powder and does include specialty items like Similac Expert Care Alimentum, Elecare, Similac Expert Care Neosure, Similac Human Milk Fortifier, and metabolic formulas for inherited disorders.

It does include plastic containers and some cans of powder formula. They have not given out lot numbers, but if you think you might have some of this product call (800) 986-8850. Hope this helps.

Is this stuff actually made and packaged in the U.S. or is it coming from somewhere else? It's to the point your afraid to buy anything with all these recalls from either bacteria or bug infiltration, or just something that shouldn't have been anywhere near a food product, but somhow got into it anyway!!

go onto site and read it. There is a place to click onto and it says to input your info off your product to see if it is on the recall list!! I imagine they were overwhelmed with calls, and are just letting the phones ring now, while the operator goes on permanent coffee break for a while!!

The site I read didn't say where it was produced but that it was distributed in the US, Puerto Rico, Guam, and some Caribbean countries. I am sure there is a lot of info, but I only read one article.

China had some baby formula recalled, it had some sort of plastic in it, melamine or something similar, it was supposed to look and feel like dried milk. Killed even a lot of Chinese babies, whose mothers had been brain washed into believing that artificial feeding was far better for babies than plain old human milk.

This is another good excuse to breast feed if at all possible. Even my own mother was embarrassed with me for breast feeding my babies. She did her first two, since my sister and I were born in the depression years, but when she got hold of money she did as her new city friends did, stuck a bottle in the kids' mouths. I simply could not convince her that I was doing the right thing, that God put these hanging pieces of meat on our fronts just for this act of feeding our young.
