A friend sent me this and I couldn't help but relate:

Car Keys……….

Several days ago as I left a meeting at a hotel. I desperately gave myself a personal TSA pat down. I was looking for my keys. They were not in my pockets. A quick search in the meeting room revealed nothing. Suddenly I realized I must have left them in the car. Frantically, I headed for the parking lot. My wife has scolded me many times for leaving the keys in the ignition.

My theory is the ignition is the best place not to lose them. Her theory is that the car will be stolen. As I burst through the door, I came to a terrifying conclusion. Her theory was right. The parking lot was empty.
I immediately called the police. I gave them my location, confessed that I had left my keys in the car and that it had been stolen.

Then I made the most difficult call of all, "Honey," I stammered; I always call her "honey" in times like these. "I left my keys in the car, and it has been stolen."

There was a period of silence. I thought the call had been dropped, but then I heard her voice.
"You Idiot", she barked, "I dropped you off!"

Now it was my time to be silent. Embarrassed, I said, "Well, come and get me."

She retorted, "I will as soon as I convince this policeman I have not stolen your car."

Yep, it's the golden years!

Yep, I can relate. Last week I ran into the Speedy-Q for a cup of coffee. Grabbed a dollar and a quarter from my purse and ran in "real quick". When I cam out, the car had automatically locked me out. (yes it was the cars fautl), Car running, wippers going, purse in car with extra set up keys (just in case you lock the other set in the car), my phone (and of course I don't know anyones number as they are all set in that phone), No sense calling DH, he is home with no car and his keys are the ones in the ignition (only thing he could do was yell). The only number I can remember is DD's and she isn't answering. (it is 7:30 a.m. on a Sunday morning). The police are not allowed to help anymore and my insurance will not cover this. So, my GF was to meet me, but I didn't know her number either. I took my cup of coffee and stood out by the road waiting for her so I could flag her down (felt like a hooker, LOL). She took me to my DS and I woke him up to get some phone numbers. DBro came to my rescue. An hour later I was back on track. A little Cranky, but, hey, you gotta do what you gotta do! Never did tell DH about it.
Yep, I didn't do that kind of thing when I was younger!!!!!!

Here's a true one for ya...me and a couple of my friends went to a movie a few years back. I was in my 40's at the time and they were in their mid to late 50's. We parked on the bottom floor of the parking garage and went to the movie. As we got to the car we noticed it was still running!!! We had all walked off and didn't hear or notice the car was still on with the keys in the ignition!!!! The parking garage was sooo noisey. We had to call her son who drove for AAA to come let us in her car. I doubt she ever lived that down...as for me I didn't tell anyone!

the other day i sat down to read the paper and got my reading glasses. I went to put them on but already had my prescription glasses on!!!

I'm fortune enough to have a car that will not lock if the keys are in the ignition..
I did have a problem yesterday at Disneyland.. I wrote that I parked the rental car at Goofy back wall.. I didn't know there were two back walls, sort of.. Ughhh.. It was 9:00.. I was totally exhausted, and by myself.. Yup.. I went to Disneyland by myself.. I was supposed to be at a meeting, and cut out.. I found it by pressing the alarm button, and I guess I was cloe enough.. I did not enjoy my time in the garage..

When I go out, I carry my keys, in my pocket (all on one ring). Sounds like a good plan, huh? Works for me . . . except for the occasional feeling of sudden panic, when I realize my keys are NOT in my pocket . . . as I'm driving down the road. "OH MY GOSH!!! WHERE ARE MY KEYS???" Did I mention the driving part?

Y'all are so funny. I feel I have to share this funny... true story. A few years back DH was kind enough to accompany me to a city almost 2 hours away to purchase a vintage treadle sewing machine. We located the house, drove up the driveway, got out and closed our doors but left the keys in the ignition since we weren't leaving it out of our sight.

We decided to get the machine so DH loaded it in the back of the our small van and closed the hatch, firmly. We didn't realize it until we went to get in that it automatically locked all of the doors. So, we have AAA, right? We called AAA and they said they would be there in about an hour... busy Saturday, of course. AAA came (by the end of that hour), quickly got us in. We drove to a nearby gas station to use the restrooms and DH put his hands in his pocket and discovered the full set of keys he 'always' keeps in his pocket whenever he leaves the front door to go work on our farm. All we could do was laugh I do remember that during that hour we talked about a lot of things. We really enjoy each other's company.

We flew to a college reunion which included a football game. Having rented a car, which was red - the college's color - and not remembering which lot we had parked in for the game - it took us 2 hours - TWO HOURS - to find the dadgummed car. We finally resorted to pushing the panic button on the key chain as we walked around the tree-covered lotS filled with after-game tailgaters and lots of red cars. Many people invited us to join us, as they easily figured out what our problem was and said 'There's too much traffic anyway, have a drink!'. We accepted a few of those invitations and met more alumni than I figured we would during that reunion. I guess there's a silver lining to every cloud.
