Hi Sewjoyce,

Your cat avatar has caught my eye since day one. I know this is your cat because I have seen him appear in other pics you have posted. Is your furbaby a ragdoll by any chance?

Hi and thanks for asking about Emile.

And as his proud mommy, I don't mind talking about him at all. He's a Himalayan (half Persian/half Siamese). He pretty much has the colors of a Siamese but with the personality (really laid back) of a Persian. He's not as big as a Rag Doll -- Emile only weighs a little over 12 lbs.

I rescued him from the Humane Society a couple of years back. Apparently no one wanted him as he was 2 yrs. old at that time and very shy.

And can you tell he's spoiled rotten???

Tell me about your kitty in your avatar. Do you have more than one?

I have 5. The avatar is my Maine Coon Cat his name is Finnegan. He is a little over 2 years old. Unfortunately, we just got the sad diagnosis that he has severe hip dysplasia. But I thank my blessings it is not a life threatening disease. Anyway, I also have two ragdoll cats. A blue point mitted name Rhumba which has markings like Emile only with white paws and a lovely blue/gray color where Emile is dark seal brown. I also have a seal bi-color named Tango which is the colors of Emile but much more white and the mask is split on his face. Both have blue eyes. #4 is a Norwegian Forest Cat named woolybear. He is a retired showcat. When the breeder didn't want to show him she contacted me to see if I wanted him. He was 1 1/2 years old at the time and I jumped at the offer. I had gotten another wegie from her years ago and that is why she asked me. #5 is a little stray calico girl that showed up on our property last October. So with all the boys and only one girl we named her "lil sis".
That surprises me that Emile is a himalayan. They are usually not as delicately boned as he appears to be and often have that flatter face of persian. The shelter may have said he was himilayan but I bet you dollars to donuts he is more ragdoll then himmy. He just has the appearance of a ragdoll. Does his fur matt much? Does he have a wooly undercoat? If his coat is all over silky and doesn't matt to badly you may just have a ragdoll, not a himmy. Either way you can tell from the pictures what a sweetheart he must be.

All your fur babies are just beautiful!! I have never heard of a Norwegian forest cat before!!

It's possible that Emile is a rag doll. But aren't they usually very large cats? His fur is silky to the touch and doesn't mat much. In fact the vet thought that I spent a lot of time brushing him and then had to admit that I very rarely do   Emile is not a lap cat but loves to be petted. Rag dolls and Maine Coons are not seen around here much -- and if you find one, they cost an arm and a leg!

Thanks for sharing your pictures of your babies. I love when the cats lay on their backs and show their pajamas! They all look so sweet.

I LOVE all kitties -- doesn't matter what color or breed. They are all special to me!

I've been thinking about getting a playmate for Emile. Hubby isn't too sold on the idea though...
