I just went to view a nearby cattery for my cats to stay at when I go away on holiday in September. It was lovely, and Beverley, the owner, was so lovely with all the cats, I booked it straightaway. She gave me a brochure with all the info, and I just wanted to share with you the section called 'About your cat's stay', it is so sweet...

"Our cattery nestles in a large and tranquil garden. Our guests are housed in individual suites, which open onto a safety passage. Infrared heating is provided.

Each suite is beautifully presented and comprises of a spacious, double glazed indoor sleeping area, and an outdoor run with pretty views.
Heating, carpets and soft bedding are supplied free of charge.

Guests are entertained throughout their stay by a bubbling water feature and a selection of wildlife visitors who find the flower garden irresistible. Soft music and wind chimes add to the ambience.

Room service is provided, and offers a complete range of dishes tailored to suit the requirements of our guests. The en suite bathroom boasts a large covered litter tray filled with quality Fuller's earth litter.

Cuddles come as standard.

Our guests are welcome to bring their favourite blankets, scratching posts and toys.

The Cat's Cradle is truly a feline oasis in the heart of the Black Country. While you enjoy your holiday, you can be assured that your cat is holidaying too!"

I love the way they call the cats 'guests', and that they will be staying in 'suites' and they will have 'room service'! I think I might stay there myself!! I've been telling the boys that I have just booked them a stay in a 'cat spa' heehee!

that is so great. how long will they be there? i never left my cats at a guesthouse. i always had them at home, with caregivers coming in. i was always fearful that a strange environment would make them lonely and afraid. and very pissed off at me.

do your cats get with other cats or are they always by themselves?

They will be there fo 5 days. This will only be the second time they have 'boarded'. They are indoor cats, so are quite afraid of the outdoor world and of strangers, but they got on ok last time. They were never mad at me I think because they were just so glad to be home!

Oh yes Loretta, I am very much a Black Country 'wench'. Grew up in Stourbridge and now live in Dudley. For anyone reading this that has no idea what I'm talking about....the area of the UK that I am from was known as the Black Country, from the 1800's, when it was a major coal mining area, so all the buildings were covered in, and the air was full of coal dust...which is why you get the 'Black' part of the name. No mining in this area any more, but still to this day, the legal survey you have to do when you buy a house is to make sure it is not on top of an old coal mine!

That sounds so neat. And I really like the name!

I will be gone for about 10 days and have a friend who will come in twice a day to let the dogs out and feed the dogs and cats. I have boarded the dogs before, but waited too long and the vet was booked. I have never left them alone for this long before. The dogs love to travel and I have left the cats home alone for 4 days with plenty of dry food and water, and clean litter boxes.

hehe!! I think your cats will love it.

When we go away we have a critter sitter that comes in a few times a day to let the dogs out and play. They feel better being at home than going to a kennel even though going to a kennel would be cheaper. The sitter leaves a message/note for every visit to tell us how the dogs did. She always gives them good grades. They must be on their best behavior for her!! haha.

When we go on vacation my dog and cats stay home and my sis and dad come over and take care of them. From the sounds of this place, my cats would love being there.

I'm with Loretta....I want to go and be pampered...minus the litterbox and cat food, ofcourse    I bet your kittys are looking forward to their spa treatment/vacation 8) 8) 8)

That is interesting history on where you live!! Where my son lives they have to have the same kind of surveys only for underground caves that create some pretty nasty sink holes! Do you still have some of the coal dust in the air?? I wondered if it ever went completely away?

The cattery sounds lovely Mary! My vet's wife had a "Pet Resort" where zzyzx stayed once, tho' it wasn't quite so posh as yours sounds. They had large airy "rooms" with 2 levels, some of which had a window in the outside wall where they could sit, and a "play room" where they would take the cats at least once a day (as I recall), where they told me zzyzx only huddled under one of the 'condos'! lol
