Hate the new ones! Dangerous! Lots of complaints about causing migraines also.

Do the LEDs last longer? I've pretty much completely switched to CFLs but have also had several burn out after a short time.

It's like the bamboo bandwagon. Bamboo is out because of the huge amount of damage it does to the environment to process the bamboo. Seems the do gooders don't research before getting on their high horses.

I didn't think you were supposed to throw these in the trash -- inside a glass jar or otherwise. I thought you had to take them to a hazardous material disposal site.

There is no way that these bulbs with mercury in them are better for the environment IN THE LONG RUN. Just wait til all that mercury starts seeping out of the landfills and into our water supply due to improper disposal.

Remember the 'artificial tree' bandwagon? It was not environmentally friendly to cut down real trees for Christmas so people went to artificial trees. Then people realized that they would eventually have to throw away the artificial trees into the dumps! Yikes! Now we have farms specifically for Christmas trees.

By the way...try to find a place to dispose of the CFL bulbs properly...no where near me!

I am using old type bulbs as they have a much brighter light for sewing with. Could you explain the danger of the new bulbs? I have had them break in my hand or close to . What danger am was I in.

It, really odd to d of so many issues with CFL bulbs. We had some in fixtures for years with nno problems. You might want to check the fixtures and the wattage of the bulbs.
