Default Check PRIVACY settings . Protect your pictures !!

This subject came up in the now closed thread about Pinterest and getting permission to "pin" photos to your Pinterest account.

To make sure that your photos are not encrypted with GPS co-ordinates which identifies where the photos were taken, you need to check your PRIVACY settings.

on Apple products...(I dont have Android) iphone-Ipad, etc.

    go to SETTINGS

    then PRIVACY

    then LOCATION SERVICES

scroll thru your APPS and turn this function off in your PHOTOS.

Take a look at other APS that use "Location Services And determine if you need the location services for that app. Maps, find my Iphone, etc. I DO NOT allow FACEBOOK to post where I am in my posts so OFF is my setting.

What does encrypted with GPS even mean and why is it important. I do not know if anything I have put on QB has ever been pinned to other locations so If anything has been isn't it to late to do anything about it and is doing this for some kind of protection? If so, what?

Thanks for the info. I am truly ignorant of all this stuff. I have a regular PC, not an Apple product. Should I also do this and why?

If the locations service is on....the GPS co-ordinates are imbedded in the photos and videos that give exact location of where the photo was taken. An "address" if you will. If you play in Facebook and noticed "Susy is at Applebees in anytown, USA"... Her smartphone has just notified the whole world where she is. Great info for burglars to know. Paranoid? I AM!

    Be safe.

If your PC has a built in camera, it may have location services tied to it. check the manual.
