Those hats are really nice and sure to be appreciated. You're correct about more girlie handmade things than guy things. Good for you to make these.

Thank you for donating to a great cause. As someone going through chemo now, even though it is spring, I still don my hat after dinnertime when I tend to get cold.

They are knit in a rectangle. The needle is size 8 with worsted weight yarn... 94 stitches wide and 50 rows tall. i knit the ribbing last because my bind off is looser than my cast on... 10 or so rows with needle size 6. sew the side seam and gather the top. HTH

Thank you very much for sharing how to make your hats. One question please: Are you straight knitting the 50 rows or knitting a row, then purling a row as in stockinette? Thank you!

Nice hats. They look so soft and comfy. I use to knit a lot but I am busy quilting now.
