We have been married for 43 years and 99% of the time he is the most wonderful husband in the world! But this is one of those 1% times. He decided on Friday that he wanted to take our 5th wheel and go on the annual Memorial Day camping trip with our kids and grandkids (& 3 great-grandkids). I would like to go also but the problem is: We have not used our 5th wheel in 3 years since his health prevented us from doing the snowbird thing. I gave all of the kitchen stuff to a young couple to stock their camper, since we weren't going to use ours anymore. Plus ours hadn't been cleaned in 3 years! So, in a mad scramble I went on a major shopping trip, dishes, pots & pans, coffee maker, toaster, crock pot, baking dishes, silverware, kitchen towels & dish rags, cleaning supplies, your name it. Then my darling daughter, grandson and wife came out yesterday and the four of us worked for seven hours cleaning, wiped the entire thing down including walls, ceiling, lights, ceiling fans, fridge, cabinets, bathroom, shampooed all of the carpets and furniture. Grandson changed the oil and all of the fluids in the truck, checked the hitch and tires, washed the outside of the camper and truck. Lugged all of the sheets, blankets, pillows, towels & wash cloths, throw rugs into the house to be washed. I had a lot of extra's and am now on my seventh load of laundry and am not even half way done. I'm hoping to get the laundry all done today so tomorrow I can start lugging everything back out and get it put away. Oh, forgot to mention the 3 loads of dishes I run through the dishwasher. Then, the plan is to go grocery shopping Wednesday and leave for the lake on Thursday morning right after his oxygen guy comes to fill his tanks.

About an hour ago he said "This is turning out to be a lot of work for you, if you want we can stay home." I gave him "the look " and said "There isn't a chance in ****, that we are staying home, we are going and you are going to have a fun time even if I have to sit on top of you the whole time!!

Some vacations are just too much work! Try not to kill him. It would be lots of work to train a new husband now!

Yup sounds like around here!! I do all the preparations and hubby goes along and enjoys the vacation! What is wrong with that picture, Usually he comes to the campsite after work so we are all set up and dinner is on. Oh but he does bring the firewood!!

You ARE going to the lake.............;)
Nah, Lisa is right, it would be even more work to train a new one. Might as well keep him. :)
