I have to get a new washing machine in the near future. I the present have a Maytag Neptune front loader. I'm not sure I want another front loader. What kind do you have and would you rece mend it to others.

I've only ever had Maytags. On my 3rd one in 41 years. But I've never had a front loader. I was thinking I like them too. My sil has a Whirlpool front loader that she loves.

Front loaders are nice, though I have noticed that over time, it seems the clothes are getting just a little dingy. Even color bright and enhancers in the washer don't seem to help after awhile.

I'm a Maytag girl, too...I'm on my 3rd washer in 34 years, and the 1st one wasn't new. I got my new one this spring and it is a top loader. My ex-Maytag repair man talked me out of getting a front loader. I trust his opinion as he is also a friend.

I have the Neptune Maytag also, and it sure has not held up like the previous washers I've had. There is only me and my husband now and my washer is only about 8 or 9 years old and has been on the downhill slide for a couple of years. I definitely will not get another Maytag.

I have a Sears front loader and love it.
The ONLY thing I don't like about it is that I can't soak things in it.
I use the washtub in the laundry room now, but it's not a big deal, compared to how much I prefer a front load.
Good luck, too bad Santa isn't coming earlier. You could ask HIM for one :D

I'm in the same boat as Spudgm. The water sits in the bottom but you can't see it. After awhile it starts to smell and my towels never smell clean and fresh like they use to. FYI...... my repair man told me that Whirlpool bought out Maytag so if you buy a Maytag it's really a Whirlpool.
I don't like that I can't soak things and if you forget to put something in you have to wait 2 mins. for the door to unlocks. Who's idea was that, some made that has nothing better to do then wait around.

I have a Fridgiaire Front loader. I've had it for 10 months now and I love it. My old machine was a 28 yr old speed queen that was walking across the floor once too often. You have to dry the gasket and door after use and I use an old wash cloth to prop in the door to keep it slightly open so that it doesn't start to smell. Th manual recommends cleaning the machine once a month by running it in cleaning mode with bleach. So far I have not had the problems of smelly towels or machine. I love the hand wash cycle for my quilts. It is the largest drum size I could get as there is now laundromat around here to do oversized items or even a dry cleaners.

I would not recommend a front loader you have to deal with the mold factor more than the regular kind. I have had mine for 7 years and would never get another set. I have to use tide front loader cleaners weekly just to get the mold smell. It is also recommended that you use tide liquid it is one of the only detergents that will completley dissolve through the cycles. The others will just sit in the tub. If you do get a front loader pay for the extended warrenty package this saved me $$$$. They also have an insert that goes around the tub to kind of like neoprene that if the clothes are not loaded correctly it can tear and this happened twice. Sorry just giving you what happened to me I believe the stand up ones are much better.
