Thread: Cleaning your iron

I was in my LQS this past Saturday and made some purchases. When I got home I noticed that they had placed a little note on a tip on how to clean the plate on your iron. I spent a lot of money getting this done so I was anxious to see if this tip would work. I took a piece of paper towel and placed it on ironing surface. Next I put dryer sheet (Bounce) on top. Heated my iron to the highest level (no steam) and pressed the dryer sheet. My iron came out sparkling clean. Was so excited had to share.

Thanks for the tip! my iron needs a good cleaning.

Sounds great! But what ever happend to just the old fashiond way? Salt & Brown paper, you just take brown paper and pour salt on it and iron with seam til its clean! 8-)

I just use a Magic eraser. Easy, peasy.

I keep a box of dryer sheets beside my iron. If my iron is not sliding smoothly, I run it over a dryer sheet. It also makes your ironing surface smell good.

Cool - another use for the box of dryer sheets that I can't use in the dryer (due to allergies). :)
