Finn Comfort or Berkinstocks either one. These are the only shoes I wear. I have very high arches and heel spurs. With the shoes my feet never hurt anymore. They are a bit pricey but well worth the money. I bought 2 new pair this summer, it had been about 7 years since I had to buy these. The longer you wear them the better they feel. They have cork insoles that form to you, no one else can wear them but you. On a scale from 1 to 10 I would rate these shoes a 100.

If at all possible, go to a specialty shoe store that caters to older people and those with orthopedic problems. Once there, look for an older clerk with lots of experience. That's what I did when we moved to a house with mostly wood floors and my heel pain was killing me.

What I ended up with for inside the house were these Haflingers:

The cork soles provide excellent cushioning. The clerk said that the arch support in them would relieve the pressure on my heels, and it did; I could actually feel the relief when I first put them on and walked in them!

For outside the house, I rely almost exclusively on Birkenstocks with their cork soles. Arizona is the style that works best for me.

My walking shoes have a slip-in cushioning support from the drugstore. My particular ones were discontinued, so I bought a bunch off eBay to have a lifetime supply. Had gone through quite a few others that didn't work well for me, and these did, so I don't want to have to switch!

Merrills, think I spelled it correctly. Wonderful support, light weight and wear for years.

Easy Spirit Travelon. Just slip your foo into them. And you can wear them as a tourist, all day long. Easily slip off when going thru security at airport.

I have to wear comfortable shoes. I wish I could buy stylish ones but for great support and comfort I buy SAS shoes. They are over a hundred dollars a pair but they last for years and look new for years too!

If you go to an online catalog for a store called "Foot Smart", you can see each shoe/sandal/boot rated and reviewed. I purchased three pair of comfortable sandals from them this past summer and I was extremely pleased with all three. Prophet and Clarks were the brands I bought and they feel like heaven, but offer good support.

Wow! Merril, Clark, SOS, etc sure make some shoes that look great! Decisions, decisions. Maybe the shrimp boots first...
Thanks to the posters here who have provided such great information.
