I am using the laptop because my comp decided to go nuts on me. It did this the other day and I shut shut it down and rebooted it but I have reboote it twice and it didn't help.

It started by I couldn't scroll. Everytime I tried it would change the size of the text up or down. Then I can't enlarge a screen. It stays on the small minimized one. I can't type. Every time I try it opens a shortcut like the favorites list or sends me to help or opens any of the shortcut keys. It also is stuck on full screen and when I go up to tools and click on full screen to get off of it it minimizes the screen instead and I get nowhere.

I ran the malware scan and I ran the ccleaner and it tells me I don't have any problems. So I am at wit's end. The laptop is fine to answer emails but I can't access anything to work on it as those files are on my comp and not the laptop.

Any help would be appreciated. I wanted to put a tutorial on but I can't use the laptop to do it as the pics are on my comp.

is your laptop linked by router to your desktop and do you have file sharing on your home network...if you do you can access your files on your desktop from your laptop. I would start your desktop in save mode, and backup all your files, try doing a system restore and if that doesn't work you can then do a system recovery (depending on your computer and how old it is) the last resort would be to take it in to have it looked at.

Sounds like something is locked. Shortcuts can happen by accident very easily on a laptop. I frequently bump the pad with the heel of my hand. Maybe you have the Scroll lock on? Top Row, F12 on mine. If you can get to the list of keyboard shortcuts, you might see something that you can try to undo what the problem is.

Poor computer. Sound like a virus or something like that. I have the ability to take the computer back to a past date. I've done that before and it fixed the problem I had.

Ok you are going to think I am a crazy lady!! LOL I fixed the problem

I had a problem with my keyboard not connecting and I hooked up my old one. When I figured out what was wrong with the new keyboard I never unplugged the old one. So I have had both connected for some time. The old one was sitting behind my comp and I moved it the other day into a box and over the last couple of days I have piled papers on top of that keyboard which was still plugged in. Upshot of it is the keys on that keyboard were being pushed but the stuff on top of it and it was causing the havoc on my comp! Duh!! I should have taken the time and energy to disconnect it when I first fixed the new keyboard! Live and learn!

Thank you everyone for your helpful suggestions!!

   It was sooo stupid!!

What made me realize what was wrong was when the comp rebooted I have a window that requires me to put in a password to unlock my comp. Normally I can ignore that and just click on ok and get on. But the password was adding astericks and wasn't stopping. It seemed like a button of some sort was stuck. There wasn't anything stuck on my keyboard and it suddenly struck me that the second keyboard was buried maybe it was being pushed. And sure enough that was the problem! I am glad I found it too!!

Glad it's fixed!
Hate it when the computer decides to do something I don't want it to do.
