I need to sell a bureau because it's huge and I don't need it anymore, so I put an ad up on Craig's List last week, got one query and then... nothing.

Re-ran the ad this morning - exact same ad but dropped the price from 200 to 150, and I've gotten 4 emails and the sale's pending at my asking price within an hour...

Go figure. I guess I hit the right price point... Paid 1000 dollars for the thing, selling for 150... At least it will be out of my house. It's a nice piece, but I don't have use for it anymore since I renovated my attic into a master bedroom suite with a walk-in closet. The room its in will be part of our home office and I want office furniture in there, not a big honking bureau with a mirror!

That's a good idea...to drop the price. I have a bunk bed/futon on Craigslist for $200.00. It's basically brand new!!! I don't think anyone's slept on it more than a dozen times. And everyone complains about the funton part. We bought a LazyBoy hide-a-bed for $75.00 off Craigslist and it looks SOOOO much better in that small bedroom. I have one bite on the bed.....she lives 6 hours away and is trying to figure out how to get it....and no, I will NOT deliver!!!! I think I'll lower the price....

Everyone these days expect to get good things for practically nothing, think some have always been that way. They can then brag to family and friends how little they paid for it. I would not do that, if I can't pay asking price then I will just walk away. I would not feel right if I took advantage of someone.

I've used CL a lot. What you can do instead of lowering the price is offer a trade for trade. We had a new grill in the box but needed another bed for the guest room. I putthat in the ad and we got a brand new still in the plastic full matress set.
