Luckily, my grandson worked for over 3 years in a paint store and he can tell just by looking at the sample the actual color it will be on the walls!! Has saved me lots of time and "tired eyes"!! I also use to think using a clear white all over made the rooms seem bigger, but just learned that dark will make the walls seem to recede thereby making the room larger. He just painted my bathroom a smoky med blue and I was shocked at how much larger it looked and I LOVE the color!! And even though I didn't realize it when I chose the color, there are many current accessories available to coordiinate. Could the "new med blue" be the "new white"? LOL

I would try to buy a subdued color to paint over it. I had this done with a house I brought which they had painted a bright turquoise blue, so toned it down with a very, very soft blue(not turquoise). Get some paint sample strips, bring them home and pick out a good match.

I rented a house that had the bathroom walls painted picnic table green...questioned as to how they decided on that color...the owner worked for the school district & that was FREE left-over paint....I changed the color
