I was wondering if anyone uses any particular software to clean up the images they might be working on? I have a lot of family photos that I want to clean up, retouch, make look newer. Does anyone have any recommendations on what to use, any free trials that we can use to see how we like the software?

Any help would be appreciated! I want to clean up the photos that I have and print them out for a memory quilt.

I have found a product called "Mama Shan's Digital Imaging". Google that and you might find something you can work with. Photoshop is another great program. Can't think of anything else. I am currently helping my wife clean up photos for a memory quilt (for her), and I don't know of too much else.

The one I have is about 10 years old but I still like it. "Picture It"...was so easy to learn and provided such variety.

I like Corel Paint Shop Pro also, in fact, like it better than Photoshop.

I use Photoshop at work. Adobe Photoshop Elements has a trial version. There is also a shareware program. I will try to find out the name or get a link.

Some free photo editors (might need to subscribe for more advanced options)

I have Microsoft Digital Image Library 10. I like it, easy to use and it has lots of photo manipulation options. I'd like to get Adobe Photoshop too as it has more options but it is expensive (at least it was last time I checked).

I use Serif PhotoPlusX3. It does all the stuff you asked about and more.
They do have a free Photoplus Starter edition, not exactly the full functionality but it can give you a taste and let you look around the site.

I have not used Gimp, but I know it's the open-source free version of Photoshop. A lot of people like it.

I use PhotoFiltre, which is okay. I don't love it, but it's okay. It was free, though, and it works for basic photo manipulation (tweaking contrast/cropping/resizing/etc). When I get a new computer, though, I think I'm going to try Gimp.
