Not that I'm leaving or anything, just looking for sewing discussions.

Unless there are some here that garment sew and can answer questions...?

edit: I suppose it would help if I asked the question...I'm making this pattern and it calls for stretch knit for the leggings. I didn't see a soft baby color so I didn't buy a knit. Would I be able to make the leggings from cotton without losing the fit?

I would look for a tee shirt knit in a color of your choice.

Patterns designed for knit fabrics are engineered to fit with very little ease built in. They are dependant on the stretch of the knit to take care of that. Patterns designed for woven fabrics typically have at least 3 or more inches of ease built in so you can move in the garment. If you make something from a woven fabric with a pattern intended for a knit, you won't be able to move in it.

ooo, I'd forgotten about pattern review.

Karen, thanks for the link. I'll check it out.

Miss, I was afraid of that. I guess I need to find a site that sells soft baby knits. Most fabric stores around here sell either cotton, flannel or fleece. Not much for knits, unless there are non-chain stores I'm not aware of, which is quite possible.

Thanks, everyone!

I have been sewing garments for 30 years and no you can't swap cotton for knit. But you could swap a material that has some spandex in it.
