The actor who plays Matthew is not coming back for season 4. I keep wondering how they are going to play that off. Will he die in the next episode?

Oh, I had heard this season was the end. So glad to hear there will be another. Plan to re-watch this afternoon (I just go to the website) and will pay more attention to the machine.

I did see the sewing machine! I thought well maybe the estate owned it and she did the clothing repairs for the household. But I was so enthralled in the story I didn't even notice that it was backwards! I am so hooked on this show - it's the best ever series on TV in my opinion! I could watch it for hours and hours!

I worried that Matthew was going to get hit in the head with a cricket ball!!!

I'm so glad Mr. Bates finally got out of prison. I caught that Mary is pregnant. Our PBS provider shows the last week's episode before the newest so I will have to watch for that sewing machine.

I did not notice the machine, I was too busy sewing, mostly listen to it. I love that show.

After the season proper there is the ''Christmas Special' which went out in the UK on Christmas Day and contains many unexpected twists! :-)

The sewing machine was on the table backward. She may have borrowed it from the main house. Servants probably had to make their own uniforms, but like someone said above, she was sewing curtains & such. Anna may have used the machine on a larger table & just moved it to the smaller table when not in use, or moved the table out from the wall when sewing, so sitting from the other side, or the prop people set the machine on the table not knowing, & nobody on the crew caught that it was backward. Just before this episode I was wondering why the women were not shown doing embroidery. Then Cora was sewing something in a small hoop this last time. For anyone wanting to see the sewing machine, it is at 1:32 out of a total of 1:53, so almost to the end.
