Dust if you must....
#1
For those of us that find it hard to get to the sewing room...a suggestion. ;)
Dust if you must
but wouldn't it be better
to paint a picture, or write a letter,
bake a cake, or plant a seed;
ponder the difference between want and need.
Dust if you must
but there is not much time,
with rivers to swim and mountains to climb!
Music to hear, and books to read,
friends to cherish and life to lead.
Dust if you must
but the world's out there
with the sun in your eyes, the wind in your hair,
a flutter of snow, a shower of rain;
this day will not come round again.
Dust if you must
but bear in mind,
old age will come and it's not kind.
And when you go,
and go you must...
You, yourself, will make more dust.
(Remember, a house becomes a home
when you can write "I love you" on the furniture! ;)

Love it!! How true. I'm just glad neither DH or I have dust allergies. One day my then 6 year old grandson was visiting and I "blew" across the coffee table to remove some dust. He looked at me and said: "Grandma that won't work-you need a leaf blower in here!" How embarrassing but true; but I didn't dust that day-we went to the park.

By Rose Milligan of Lancaster, Lancashire, England. The poem was first published in the September 15th - 21st edition of The Lady (magazine) in 1998.
The poem is quoted on many web sites, as either an inspirational poem, or in order to reflect the ethos of that site. It is usually attributed to either "Unknown" or "Anon".
I believe in giving credit where credit is due.

Yep - if it weren't for my allergies, I'd leave dusting to the end - but alas - I have to dust even if I can't see it - my allergies tell me it's lurking on the shelf, on the end table, on the staircasing, on the door ledges ....... it takes away so much time I could be quilting!

My sentiments exactly. Guess I got in the habit of putting off housework when my kids were small and we had more fun things to do together. Now I'd rather spend time with the grandkids or quilt. Housework will always be there waiting.
