It was worse than the ones I have felt in VT, we have sonic booms down here but I don't think it was one of those. Whole building was shaking for 10-15 seconds, I am OK, thanks.

Just looked it up on the website- it is due south of us.

If you live near Gulf Shores, there was a 3.5 according to the USGS website.

Arkansas has been having earthquakes, you might feel some effects from that.

Last year we had a minor earthquake here in upstate NY. The whole house shook and my hubby hollered out to me, innocently sitting in my sewing room, "Honey, what are your doing up there?" And I was up there wondering what in the world he was doing downstairs that caused the whole house to jiggle. I finally had to call the local library to ask if we ever had earthquakes in this area...and we did!

We don't have many in Illinois either but we've had a few minor ones. One a year or so ago woke us up in the middle of the night. It really rattled things for a few minutes. They say that you can feel them more if you're barefooted and also if your house has a basement. I know I felt aftershocks for days after that that little one happened here.

According to that link from Crafty there's been a BUNCH of small ones that last few days in Arkansas too. It was listed 26-28 times.

My cousin that lives in Huntington Beach, Ca. says that you're supposed to get into a doorway. I'm not sure why.
