Default Erie PA area I need some information

I want to take my kids to Lake Erie and across to New York all in one trip.
What might be good to do there?
I thought Route 5 looks like a good route to take?

Hi grammydar, were you looking to go to Presque Isle? Such a beautiful area. I grew up in Erie and now live about 15 miles south. I guess it depends on where you are going in New York, which way to take. The quickest way would be I90, but for a scenic ride, route 5 or route 20 will get you there. Where are you coming from?

Hey there. Rt 5 for the most part is a lovely drive. I live right off lake erie in Evans, NY you will pass many nice lake front parks off from rt 5 / not so much rt 20 you will see lots of small towns both ways will give you the grape vine farms. Take a little extr time and in about less then 2 hrs from Erie you can be in Niagra Falls and really see it big.

Route 5 or rte 20 will take you in and across from Erie to NY, as mentioned. Presque isle is also accompanied by a nice small amusement park (Waldameer) and a really great nature center (Tom Ridge Envoronmental Center), both admission is free, and each at the neck of Presque Isle. This weekend is North East's (Right before crossing over to NY line) Cherry Festival if you are coming soon. Discover Presque Isle is happening sometime in the next few weekends. There's a great little zoo in Erie and, by the way, several nice quilting shops.

Let us know what your interests are, we can steer you in the direction you want to go.

Well, the Cherry Festival might be fun in North East if you like smaller community, fair activities--or perhaps any of the things around Presque Isle. Have some fun!

this sounds like fun! I live in N.E. Ohio and am always looking for trips that we can take in the weekend-ish time frame. We like Presque Isle area and have never been to the falls on the American side. Nice to have so many "tour guides" here! I'll be watching this thread for all the suggestions.
