I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of Meralgia paresthetica. It causes a pain and itching in the thigh area which comes from nerve damage. The thigh feels pain, numbness, a feeling of bee stinging and extreme itching.

If you know anything about this, and have any suggestions regarding treatment, I would appreciate it.

Thanks so much....

Thanks for the info. The symptoms match what I am experiencing. Its just very strange. I have an appointment with my doctor next week. I will share what I learn if anyone is interested.

You could probably learn a lot by doing an internet search - just try Google. Good luck.

Wow! That is exactly what I have had for the last 30+ years since pregnancy. I didn't know it was a condition that had a name. Just thought I had a numb, painful thigh and had to live with it the best I could. I also am overweight and have diabetes, so it all fits together. Thanks for finding the name for it.

So, have you done anything that has given you any relief? Let me know if anything has helped you. I have always carried a few unwanted pounds, but am not considered overweight, and do not have diabetes, so I don't fit the profile. But as usual, I don't need to fit any profile to pick up some new weird medical issue!!

Hope it doesn't give you too much trouble...

Thanks, I did a search, but was hoping someone had more to offer from personal experience. I also need to be careful from what I learn on line....Especially at night...I go to bed thinking I have something more serious than it really is!!!
