Moonrise, You must be an Avatar fan too. When you say you didn't care for "The Hobbit", I assume you are referring to the book. I love the movies. When I started to read the book, I never finished the first chapter. I found J. R. R. Tolkien's writing to be as dull as Leo Tolstoy's "War and Peace." It was an all-time best seller and I should probably give it another chance. My husband loves to read fantasy, and he didn't care for the hobbit either. But we are both huge fans of the trilogy. Ordinarily with a book or a television series, I continue on, even if it seems boring in the beginning, because I know that the story line is being established. Did you actually finish reading the hobbit? I enjoy writing and I own many books on the subject. In one of my books about writing for children, I read that Tolkien began writing "The Hobbit" for his children as a book he could read to them at bedtime. When I read this I thought, yeah, that would put them to sleep...
